The orange chicken, Kung Pao chicken, Sweet Fire Chicken Breast and Beijing beef are among the most popular dishes at Panda Express. The orange chicken, inspired by the Hunan Province in South Central China, is a dish of crispy boneless chicken bites tossed in the wok with sweet and spicy orange sauce, created by Andrew. Kung Pao chicken is a spicy stir-fry dish inspired by the Sichuan Province in Central China. It is prepared with marinated diced chicken, crunchy peanuts, diced red bell peppers and sliced zucchini, all tossed in the wok with fresh green onions. Inspired by the flavors of Thailand, the Sweet Fire chicken breast features crispy, white meat chicken bites tossed in the wok with red bell peppers, diced onions and juicy pineapple with a zesty, sweet chili sauce. Another favorite is the Beijing beef, a Sichuan-style dish inspired by Central China that consists of crispy strips of marinated beef, bell peppers and sliced onions, and tossed in the wok with a tangy sweet and spicy sauce. Other Panda Express’ dishes include the String Bean chicken breast, made of a marinated chicken breast, fresh-cut string beans and sliced onions; Mushroom Chicken, a dish of marinated diced chicken, sliced zucchini and button mushroom; Broccoli beef, Honey Walnut Shrimp and many others.
About Panda Express
Panda Inn opened its first fine dining restaurant in Pasadena, California in 1973. It was started by Andrew Chrng, who hailed from the Yangzhou region in China, and his father Master Chef Ming-Tsai Cherng. The restaurant brought Mandarin and Szechuan cuisine to Southern California. Despite their limited funds, Andrew believed that quality meals made with fresh and premium ingredients would bring in customers. With his wife Peggy’s support, Andrew’s first foray into the food business was a success. Ten years later, Andrew opened the first Panda Express in the Glendale Galleria in California. This time, he pioneered an innovative concept in the quick service Chinese food market. Panda Express immediately became the Chinese food of choice for consumers. In 1987, Panda Express opened its first location outside of California in the Ala Moana Shopping Center in Honolulu, as part of its expansion plans. A year later, Panda Express opened its first quick-service outlet in a supermarket at the Vons/Pavilions location in Arcadia, California. Panda Express turned 30 years old last year with over 1,600 stores in 47 states and abroad.
