Sonny’s BBQ is a barbecue restaurant chain based in the U.S. Founded in 1968 by Floyd Tillman, the first restaurant was opened in Florida. Franchising began in 1977. The chain was purchased by Bob Yarmuth in 1991. Sonny BBQ has a Southern-style barbecue-inspired menu which includes pulled pork, sliced pork, baby back ribs, St. Louis style ribs, and beef brisket. Burgers, appetizers, and sides are also prominent on the menu. Signature dishes include the Sweet Carolina pulled pork, pulled chicken, original recipe BBQ beans, egg rolls, and chicken wings. For a brief period in the 2000s, Sonny’s was the largest operating BBQ restaurant chain the U.S. The private chain now has 122 restaurants dispersed in nine Southeastern states.
